Easy and Fast Buttered Cabbage


Another side dish, this tasty recipe just might convince you of the amazing-ness of cabbage on its own. The antioxidant properties are great, but you’ll want to eat this just because it’s so damn delicious.


  • 1 lb fresh cabbage
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • salt and freshly ground pepper
  • extra butter


  1. Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage, and cut the remainder into four, removing the stalk. Cut each quarter into shreds against the grain.
  2. Put 3 Tbsp of water into a saucepan with the butter and a pinch of salt. Bring it to a boil, then add the cabbage and toss it so it becomes coated. Cover, and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Remove from heat, and toss the cooked cabbage with pepper and the extra butter, the serve.
